For the sponge cake:


2 cups of all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

4 large eggs at room temperature

1 cup of milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 spoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

For the Philly Freeze:


1 (8 oz) package Philadelphia cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups confectioners' sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line with parchment paper for easy release.


In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.


In another bowl, beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Add melted butter, milk and vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.


Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.


Divide the dough evenly between prepared cake pans and spread the tops with a spatula.


Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.


Remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.


While the cakes are baking, prepare the Philly Fluff Frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the soft cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.


Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beat until the frosting is light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
